Most of the healthy choices in the market are on the perimeter. That is where you want to be. The aisles are like mazes set up to lure you in with large, bright display ends and keep you in as the most popular items are in the middle. Companies pay big money to get their products on these end-cap displays. Hit and run through the aisles.
If you get frozen food, a better choice than canned, choose items with only the ingredient you want listed. If you do get canned items, less ingredients and lower sodium is best.
Be leery of “natural” labeling. It only means there are no “artificial ingredients.” But the item could be loaded with sugar, fat, salt or gmo’s. And avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Finally, when in line, don’t be tempted to buy the generally unhealthy choices there.
